Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann Calls on the American People to Bring the Town Hall To Washington
"This is the deciding moment and the people need to make sure their representatives know where they stand."

Washington, D.C., Nov 2 -

WHAT: Health Care “House Call” on Washington Press Conference

WHO: Republican Members of Congress
Actor Jon Voight, Radio Host Mark Levin, and others.

WHEN: Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 12:00-2

WHERE: West Front of the U.S. Capitol (House Side)

“The American people spoke loud and clear at town hall meetings all across the country throughout August. But, it would appear that Congress didn’t hear a word they had to say. The Democrats’ latest health care proposal unveiled late last week may be packaged a little differently, but it’s the same old bad bill as before.

“This bill is a trillion-dollar, budget-busting, government takeover of our health care system. It will put bureaucrats between people and their health care. It will lead to rationed care, hurting the most vulnerable amongst us first. It will break the bank, leaving our children to pay the bill with diminished freedoms and dwindling prosperity.

“The American people need to stand up again and make sure that Congress hears them this time. Speaker Pelosi is putting her bill on fast track to a vote – and it remains to be seen if the House will even get a chance to vote on the commonsense Republican alternatives. The people need to make a House Call on Washington this week and tell their Representatives to vote no to a government take-over of one-fifth of our economy. This is gangster government at its worst.

“I urge all Americans to come to Washington this Thursday. Come and meet up with your Representative and tell them that you want to control your health care.”"

They don't want their current health insurance costs to go up, they do not want to be dropped once they do become sick, because of bogus "pre-existing conditions" nor do they want to be denied coverage because they get sick.
All of this will happen UNLESS Congress changes the existing expensive unfair system.
Instead of saying NO to all efforts at reform you should be telling your representative to work within the system, and make the necessary compromises so reform that works for YOU gets done.
The Republicans blew their chance to change the system because by opposing all reform they embraced the current expensive wasteful unfair system.
The government and your representatives are supposed to work for you but they are just working for the insurance industry.

Our Forefathers created a whole Government in less than 8 pages why does it take 2,000 page HC Bill to get the job done?

The Republicans just released an Alternative HC Bill which so far looks good, only 200 pages long. It will meet many of the problems head on without the hidden agenda the Obama,Pelosi and Reid in it.
4 months ago: Hey Altruist. Is that 40,000 as in Fourty Thousand? It is important to get the numbe correct. 40,000 is a firm number?
4 months ago: Want to dream more and use 50,000? I'll work with that number too.

I've heard this line before, on some right-wing show that cranks out inexact parallels like sausage. Our forefathers also presided over a country that was less than 1/3 it's current size, with a population of about 2,000,000. Back when the greatest threat to our security lived 3000 miles across the ocean--a 3 month trip under sail, in good weather. Back when the strength to pull teeth made you a qualified dentist. See where I'm going?

And by "all Americans", Bachmann means the chronically malcontent. The unemployed or the shut-ins--the people listening to Glenn Beck et. al. for three hours a day, every day, while cursing everyone else's work ethic. People fearful of every harbinger of changing and unalterable demographic shift. Scared people with a lot of tough talk and posterboard don't impress me.
4 months ago: The problem is Jak most people do not care where this country is going, the fact is we know little of what is in the 2,000 page HC Bill. The fear you guys spread is on some figure that has been proven wrong, just like the figures for unemployment and new jobs is false.

My problem is too many people trust that politicians will do right. Well look at where we are and tell me how we should not care. That is the reason we are in this mess. Not for being involved in the political process but for letting this politicians do what they want.

Liberals and new age thinkers alike do not impress me because they follow like sheep. They know little about the real issue and pretend they care. All they care about is changing this state to what they think it should be. The problem is we have a Constitution and we have to follow it. Anyone that does not follow it statutes is a traitor to this very country.

Scott I wish liberals would follow like sheep (or Republicans)instead they all try to see every side of the issue and so we get everyone running in different directions. The Republicans have figured out how to discipline their members. Rupert Murdoch tells all of his media slaves to do one thing and then you hear the same identical talking points on every channel. Those that don't follow the party line get their funding cut off.
Liberals are allowed to think for themselves and to represent their constituency instead of the corporations that hold the purse strings.
4 months ago: The problem Al is, if the majority of America would take a active role in keeping in touch with their Representatives then the Liberal ideals would not have a leg to stand on. Things are looking better for the future though especially with the latest election results.
